TAVAS Fokker D.VIII replica to fly in Australia

The Australian Vintage Aviation Society (TAVAS) will soon be performing the first flight of its Fokker D.VIII replica. The aircraft is built using several original components, and an original Gnôme engine. The 160 hp rotary engine was purchased as surplus after World War One and used on an airboat, but saw very limited use and is in excellent condition.

TAVAS should carry out the Fokker D.VIII’s final inspection in mid-March, to be followed by the aircraft’s maiden flight.
