“Miss Velma” and “Berlin Express” damaged in separate incidents at Flying Legends

The TF-51D “Miss Velma” made a wheels-up landing during the Flying Legends airshow at Duxford this weekend. It appears the engine failed shortly before landing and the pilot made the quick decision to perform a wheels-up landing in a field. Bristol Blenheim L6379 flies again

After a restoration that took over a decade, Bristol Blenheim L6739 flew a 20 minutes maiden flight at Duxford on November 20 with John Romain and John Gilmore at the controls. Spitfire Mk Ia flies again in Duxford

Spitfire Mk Ia N3200 flew again in Duxford on 26 March 2014, flown by John Romain. It was assigned to S/L Geoffrey Stephenson who was shot down over Dunkirk in May 1940, and spent the war in captivity. P-47G SNAFU to arrive in the US

The Fighter Collection’s Republic (license-built by Curtiss) P-47G Thunderbolt called “SNAFU” is currently being disassembled in Duxford to be crated and shipped to its new owner in the US, Comanche Fighters. Source

Tiger Moth G-ANPE damaged in Duxford

Classic Wing’s Tiger Moth G-ANPE was damaged on Friday September 30 when it overshot the runway at Duxford. The two people on board received minor injuries and were taken to the hospital. The aircraft has received substantial damage.

Mid-air collision at Duxford

I just received word from Gaël, a friend and fellow member of the CAF French Wing that the French Skyraider (F-AZDP) collided with P-51 “Big Beautiful Doll” at the Duxford Flying Legends airshow.  Rob Davies, BBD’s pilot, bailed out while the Skyraider was able to land, minus several feet of right wingtip. Buchon flies again in Duxford

On May 6, 2011, the Hispano Aviación HA-1112 “Buchon” registered as G-AWHE made its first flight in the hands of John Romain.
