Australian defence minister Jason Clare has announced that seven F-111 Aardvark will be made available to museums and historical organizations in the country. Australia was the only foreign operator of the type, which served in the RAAF from 1973 to 2010.

The aircraft will be loaned and will remain the property of the state. To be able to get an F-111, the organizations will have to agree to certain conditions: the aircraft must be stored inside and regular maintenance will have to be performed.

Two F-111 are already visible at the RAAF’s museum in Point Cook.

  1. Would have been nice if they would flick one NZ’s way – they are sending a Skyhawk back to Oz, and they spent a lot of time training in NZ.

    I will miss the dump-and-burn
