After so many bad news for the warbird community, we are happy to move on to better ones !

Hawker Hurricane Mk I P2902 flew again on 19 June, more than 77 years after it crash-landed on a beach near Dunkirk in May 1940.

The aircraft was restored to airworthiness by Hawker Restorations Ltd and made a 20-minute maiden flight yesterday from Elmsett airfield in Suffolk. Stuart Goldspink was at the controls and was satisfied with the aircraft’s behaviour. After conclusion of the flight tests, the Hurricane will be based in Duxford.

This brings the number of airworthy Hurricanes to 15, including 9 in the UK. Hawker Restorations Ltd is reportedly also restoring two other Hurricanes, including a twin-seater.
