The aircraft, a faithful reproduction of the iconic World War I fighter, underwent a full restoration including newly built wings and detailed structural work. The project was carried out by the museum’s skilled volunteers to ensure continued safe operation and preserve the flying heritage of early aviation.

Continue reading]]> A superb Albatros D.Va replica built by The Vintage Aviator Ltd. has arrived at the Shuttleworth Collection in Old Warden, in the United-Kingdom. Powered by a Mercedes D.IIIa engine, this replica wears the colours of an aircraft flown by 20-victory German ace Otto Kissenberth. The aircraft belongs to Oliver Wulff and is on loan to the WW1 Aviation Heritage Trust.

Continue reading]]> The 1943 Canadian-built PBY-5A Canso (former RCAF11094) should fly again on June 18 following a nine-year restoration. The flight is slated to take place at Fairview Airport with two of its former pilots in attendance: 94-year-old Hal Burns and 99-year-old James McCrae, who both flew the machine during its service in WW2.

Continue reading]]> A true piece of American history that has sat in the Mojave Desert for decades and was slated to be turned into scrap metal will now have a new home at the Air Mobility Command Museum.  A C-5M Super Galaxy, operated by the 709th Airlift Squadron, and an AMC Museum team traveled to Edwards Air Force Base, California Dec. 16 – 19, 2016, to transport portions of the Fairchild C-119B Flying Boxcar #48-0352 “Am Can Co Special” to the AMC Museum at Dover AFB for restoration and display.

Continue reading]]> The Australian Vintage Aviation Society (TAVAS) will soon be performing the first flight of its Fokker D.VIII replica. The aircraft is built using several original components, and an original Gnôme engine. The 160 hp rotary engine was purchased as surplus after World War One and used on an airboat, but saw very limited use and is in excellent condition.

TAVAS should carry out the Fokker D.VIII’s final inspection in mid-March, to be followed by the aircraft’s maiden flight.
