A fake email allegedly by race pilot Matt Jackson has been circulating on the internet, claiming the trim tab was not the cause of the accident but a consequence of it. Matt Jackson has confirmed he was not the author of the email and that what is related in it is completely untrue.
At this time, the NTSB has not made any conclusions and is not likely to do so in the near future as the crash is still under investigation.
Rumours and fakes of the sort, although very common on the internet, can actually be quite damaging. Please help spread the word that this is a fake. It is of course easier said than done, but we should all try not to let such things happen and “go viral”. Once launched, rumours of the sort are often nearly impossible to stop or deny.
