Admiral Sir Raymond Lygo †

Admiral Sir Raymond Lygo, who has died 87, was a successful Fleet Air Arm pilot during the war and Acting First Sea Lord after it; in his second career he was chief executive of British Aerospace and played a small but key role in the “Westland affair” of 1986, which brought down two ministers and, very nearly, the government of Margaret Thatcher.
