After 62 years, the remains of nine British and three Malaysian soldiers were recovered at the crash site of their airplane. The aircraft was a Dakota, which crashed in the jungle near Gua Musang in Malaysia on 25 August 1950.
Following the crash, which was due to engine trouble, an expedition found the wreckage but was forced to bury the victims on the spot due to the presence of enemy troops nearby. Efforts to find the crash site again were initiated in 2008, succeeding in November of that year.
The remains of the soldiers will be buried during a ceremony that will be held on March 15.
