RAF Museum Cosford adds Spitfire PR XIX to its display

The RAF Museum in Cosford is now displaying Spitfire Mk XIX PM651 as part of its collection. The aircraft was used in a static role in the movie “The Battle of Britain” and later served as a gate guard at RAF Benson, before going to the RAF Museum in 1989 and being restored in 2010.

I remember seeing this at Benson when I was young (and then being replaced by a plastic replica – err!) So I’m really glad it still survives, let-alone been restored. I’ve been to Cosford before, but shall go again soon, and will look out for a shiney ‘new’ PM651!
