The TF-51D “Miss Velma” made a wheels-up landing during the Flying Legends airshow at Duxford this weekend. Supermarine Spitfire Mk III PP972 made its first post-restoration flight on Monday, June 15 with Richard Grace at the controls. The aircraft will be presented to the public at the Flying Legends airshow. Only four Supermarine Seafire are currently airworthy, with several restoration projects underway. French aviation artist Romain Hugault is the author of the 2014 Flying Legends airshow poster. The poster shows two Spitfire XIV at (very) low level over a field with poppies, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the First World War.

I just received word from Gaël, a friend and fellow member of the CAF French Wing that the French Skyraider (F-AZDP) collided with P-51 “Big Beautiful Doll” at the Duxford Flying Legends airshow.
